Promag was founded in 1986 as an evolution of the old company MARK, and having its heritage as abasis for development. MARK was started in 1966 and had been a driving force for innovation in the Italian ice cream industry.

 Among these, the first horizontal batch freezer – to become a standard in the industry - and the first automatic pasteurizer.

 In 1998, PROMAG has been purchased by ALI GROUP, a world leader in cooking and refrigeration industry.

Since 2010, PROMAG is part of ICETEAM 1927 together with CATTABRIGA, COLDELITE & ELECTROFREEZE brands. New STARGEL range has been designed as a low-entry batch freezer for italian-style gelato, with high quality at competitive prices.
